Microsoft Surface Phone Latest News & Update: Nokia, Microsoft Collaboration May Result In Much Awaited Windows Surface Phone
Microsoft and Nokia have gone separate ways with the former striking it out well with its Surface brand. Nokia recently got resuscitated through HMD Global, proof of which is the revelation of the Nokia 6 device. The mid-range phone is an Android-based smartphone where more variants could be shown at the coming Mobile World Congress.
The key here is that Nokia is turning to Android and not the Windows operating system. Apparently HMD Global and Microsoft have not yet come up with a win-win solution to integrate Windows 10 Mobile as of yet. There is, however, word that the two groups seem to be working on something, as spotted on Weibo courtesy of Nokia Power User. A post seemed to indicate a Windows mobile device in the works, sending anticipation that one may actually come out soon.
If so, this could mean that Microsoft and Nokia could come up with a Surface brand device that could eventually benefit both companies. The partnership would not come as a surprise since other companies like Apple do the same with Foxconn. So if true, what features and specs can consumers look forward to?
This remains sketchy for now though it could hint at a possible Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC in the same post at the least, GSM Arena reported. The dish on the said chipset seems to point to an alleged Nokia P1 which is believed to be among the new Nokia devices debuting at MWC 2017. For those unfamiliar with the Nokia P1, the device will also feature 6 GB of RAM, Carl Zeiss cameras, and quick charging technology.
It may take some time for Nokia and HMD Global to come up with a joint collaboration for a Nokia Windows phone, something that should technically be taken with a grain of salt. The Finnish brand needs to re-establish its lost niche for now. From there, it can ramp up its mobile device lineup, including a re-introduction of high-end smartphones carrying the familiar Nokia brand.
