NBA Trade 2017 Latest News & Updates: Carmelo Anthony Close To Landing In Los Angeles Clippers

Following botched talks that would have seen Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Love change teams, the New York Knicks seem determined to send off the all-star forward before the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 23. Strangely, most teams who could use him have been shying away. After the Cavs, even the Boston Celtics begged off from getting the 32-year-old player.

The latest on Carmelo Anthony trade talks involves the Los Angeles Clippers. Austin Rivers and Jamal Crawford are possible candidates for the trade. However, it remains to be seen if their total salary would be enough to offset Anthony’s huge paycheck worth $25 million.

According to the LA Times, a third team may be needed to facilitate the trade with the Knicks reportedly hesitant to take in Crawford and his contract. Crawford has two years left on his deal worth approximately $30 million. The Clippers are also thinking twice about trading Crawford and Rivers. With Chris Paul sitting out due to a thumb injury, the charges of Doc Rivers may end up with a shortage of guards.

If the two do get shipped, only J.J. Reddick and Raymond Felton would be left to man the point guard position. With his career currently in limbo, the distraction has been affecting Carmelo Anthony. It was evident when the Knicks played the Charlotte Hornets, the all-star forward obviously out of sync.

Add to that the fact that Knicks fans were also chanting for him to be traded and one can imagine how even a player like Melo can keep his mind in the game, ESPN reported. Before any trade can happen, it should be noted that Anthony does have a no-trade clause. Given that the Knicks are initiating talks, all that may have already been ironed out. But with the Cavs and Celtics out plus the Clippers wary of who to offer, which team could be the best landing spot for Melo?
