There is little doubt that fans are looking forward to seeing Hugh Jackman one last time as the iconic Wolverine in "Logan". However, some have been understandably distracted by the little girl who appears in the Fox film's awesome trailers. Is it possible that the young X-23 is set for a larger role in future "X-Men" films?

There are speculations that Hugh Jackman's retirement from the role could mean the death of Wolverine in "Logan". But that doesn't necessarily mean that Wolverine will be dead forever. It is possible that Dafne Keen's X-23 will take on Wolverine's mantle by the end of the James Mangold film then move on to team up with other mutants in the next "X-Men" flicks.

X-23 certainly has an interesting backstory in the comic books, and there is a possibility her origins will be explored in "Logan". In the comics, Laura Kinney eventually adopts the Wolverine mantle after Logan. Some fans believe that this could be the natural direction Hugh Jackman's movie will take that will somehow spare Logan from meeting his end. This way, the new Wolverine can still appear in more "X-Men" films without killing Logan off.

Hugh Jackman's retirement from the role is still a sore topic for most fans who couldn't imagine Wolverine being played by any other actor. However, the "X-Men: Days of Future Past" actor has just admitted on E! News that he was uncertain if he would be a good fit for the role. However, a conversation with Fox studio executive Tom Rothman helped build Jackman's confidence as he went on to play Logan in more "X-Men" movies.
