There is little doubt that "Injustice 2" will feature several new DC characters with their own skill set and awesome armor. But which character will be revealed on the NetherRealm's title's official website this week? Some believe Black Manta is set for a major debut while Green Lantern fans are crossing their fingers on Dex-Starr's possible introduction.

Remember when the "Injustice 2" gameplay trailer offered quick glimpses at numerous returning characters? The same teaser also confirmed that Supergirl and Gorilla Grodd will be joining the NetherRealm sequel's awesome lineup. Not surprisingly, the trailer has plenty of villains and even a scene with Kara Zor-El faces Atrocitus along with fellow Red Lantern Dex-Starr. Black Manta also makes an appearance, as seen in the video below.

Fans were understandably excited about the new "Injustice 2" characters, but a quick look at the NetherRealm game's official website reveals that only 11 DC heroes and baddies are officially part of the roster. It looks like the additional characters will be revealed one by one, with the soonest being on February 2. Could Black Manta finally get an official announcement? Will Dex-Starr make his gaming debut?

There is good reason why people are hoping Black Manta will be given a proper introduction in "Injustice 2". The DC villain has recently been confirmed and cast in Jason Momoa's upcoming "Aquaman" solo film and will be played by "Get Down" star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. It would be interesting to see how the baddie's appearance in the NetherRealm title will affect the highly anticipated DC Extended Universe flick.

Atrocitus might sound like the most terrifying Red Lantern out there, but his feline companion might be scarier than he is. Dex-Starr's short appearance in the "Injustice 2" gameplay trailer definitely had fans wondering whether the housecat that became a Red Lantern will be a playable character. However, there has been no word from NetherRealm on whether the tiny ball of fur(y) will join the title's official roster. "Injustice 2" will be available on PlayStation4 and XBox on May 16.
