NBA Trade 2017 Latest News & Update: Cleveland Cavaliers Choosing Among Mario Chalmers, Kirk Hinrich, Jordan Farmar and Lance Stephenson

Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James sounded off the need for more help in the backcourt and it looks like help will come soon. The Cavs are reportedly scheduled to work out a couple of veteran guards soon, a list that includes James’ former teammate Mario Chalmers.

Chalmers along with Jordan Farmar, Kirk Hinrich, and Lance Stephenson are expected to show their stuff Wednesday, where more names could be trying out to reinforce the Cavaliers. Following a dismal 7-8 record in January, Cleveland is looking to beef up its backcourt with a signing possibly happening before the NBA All-Star break. The Cavs do have one roster spot available though they could open another if they waive Chris Andersen, ESPN reported. The “Birdman” is out for the season following a knee injury.

The likely one to be signed is the player who is in shape and someone head coach Tyron Lue sees fit in his system. Chalmers is a favorite though a lot depends on how he has recuperated from his Achilles tear. The 30-year-old guard failed to finish last season with the Memphis Grizzlies due to the injury but makes the most sense, having played with James with the Miami Heat.

Kirk Hinrich and Jordan Farmar could be interesting too, known as good facilitators. Farmar did play for the Sacramento Kings earlier this season while Hinrich hasn’t played since May. Stephenson is an interesting choice as well. After impressing with Indiana Pacers, the temperamental guard has failed to maintain his run with the New Orleans Pelicans and the Los Angeles Clippers.

Whoever gets the nod will give resident point guard Kyrie Irving the needed help James has been ranting about recently. Despite a loaded lineup, the 32-year-old star voiced out the need to address certain facets of the ballclub. Ironically, questions on James' turnovers were singled out by Sports Illustrated; so, would a new facilitator really help improve the Cavs campaign?
