‘Super Mario Run’ Latest News: More iPhone Games Coming Soon, Nintendo Careful Not To Overshadown 'The Switch'
Nintendo continues to enjoy the success of “Super Mario Run”, the hit iOS mobile app that raked in millions. The app was downloaded 3 million times when the game debuted and now the Japanese company is looking to deliver more games for iPhone owners. The plan is to release 2 to 3 mobile games annually.
While that should be something, Nintendo did not get into specifics on what games the public can look forward to. The company is due to release a couple of games for iOS and Android – “Fire Emblem: Heroes” and “Animal Crossing” (iOS only). The two new games are forecasted to be coming this April and the three could more or less make up the 2017 game offerings from Nintendo, Reuters reported.
It should be noted that “Super Mario Run” has yet to come out for Android users. That version is believed to be coming out in March, good news for the people who have grown envy of iOS users. Other than that, Nintendo is believed to be taking a conservative approach to avoid showing up its upcoming Nintendo Switch game console, Apple Insider reported. The console is also slated to come out in March, a flexible device that totes a tablet-sized display.
To date, “Super Mario Run” has amassed over $53 million but the unlock rate has been just a meager 5-percent. The game does initially come out free with the full version available only once users cough up $9.99. The high-price for “Super Mario Run” has gained its share of criticism with most opting to stick with the free version. The suggested retail price does not include in-game purchases.
The latest update on “Super Mario Run” is that the app has now added an “Easy Mode” for gamers to check out. For those who have played the game, the mode comes a bit of a surprise considering it is not that difficult. Players get unlimited lives when this mode is turned on, a ploy to likely entice gamers to play on endlessly, Engadget reported.
