WWE Latest News & Update: Seth Rollins Injury Is Big Wrestlemania 33 Problem, Samoa Joe Looking For Dance Partner
The much-awaited Seth Rollins vs. Triple H for Wrestlemania 33 may have just been canceled following word that the former WWE champion has re-injured his knee. It is the same problem that kept him out at Wrestlemania 32.
The injury is likely a result of the beating that Seth Rollins got from Samoa Joe during the Jan. 31 edition of WWE Raw. The sneak attack came as Triple H was addressing the Architect’s demand for both to come face-to-face. Joe gave Rollins a heavy beating, eventually putting the WWE star to sleep using a Coquina Clutch finisher. It is believed that Rollins suffered a torn MCL.
According to the Wrestling Observer, Rollins could be out for up to eight weeks. That would be cutting it close considering Wrestlemania 33 is set for Apr 2 at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. There is a chance that Rollins may miss his second consecutive Wrestlemania though nothing has been made official. But the more pressing question now is what will Triple H and do at the big pay-per-view.
First is Samoa Joe. His coming to Raw has long been anticipated and the evolving storyline pointed to a possible clash with Seth Rollins at WWE Fastlane on Mar. 5. Obviously, that is no longer happening so he may eventually be paired up with another WWE star who plays face. The closest one that comes to mind is Roman Reigns. The problem with that is that Reigns is dialed in on Braun Strowman unless the WWE opts to follow a different course.
Other possible stars could include Sami Zayn or perhaps Universal champion Kevin Owens. Finn Balor would have been grand but there is no word yet if he is cleared to return. Triple H has been left out of the mix with the Seth Rollins injury. If the mentor vs. student match doesn’t take place, he could take on Samoa Joe with some tweaks in the script. Rather than be a heel, the 37-year-old could end up being a face wrestler, at least for now, Bleacher Report noted.
