The fourth season of "Vikings" has just concluded, but fans are already looking forward to what could happen next to the Great Heathen Army and their mission to conquer England. So when exactly is the "Vikings" Season 5 air date? Some believe that the series will return in the middle of the year, and Travis Fimmel might still reprise his role as the beloved Ragnar Lothbrok.

In "The Reckoning", the Great Heathen Army managed to push Aethelwulf into retreat, but King Ecbert managed to renounce his throne and declare his son as the new king before the rest of Wessex escaped. Unfortunately, this led to the deaths of Ecbert and Helga, with Ivar the Boneless murdering his own brother Sigurd as they celebrated their victory. However, the conclusion of the fourth season teased on a larger threat from Jonathan Rhys-Meyers' Heahmund, who wields a sword that might slaughter more Northmen in "Vikings" Season 5.

But when will Heahmund face Ragnar Lothbrok's sons? History has not yet announced the "Vikings" Season 5 air date. The previous seasons have premiered in February or March, but things have changed with the fourth season, which was the first to have 20 episodes. There are speculations that the show will be back by summer, and Travis Fimmel might still return as the recently dead Ragnar.

Michael Hirst has already stated that Ragnar Lothbrok will not return in a dream sequence or as a ghost in "Vikings" Season 5. However, the creator also admitted that Ragnar is "a powerful presence in people's lives", teasing that he might appear in a vision. There is a possibility that Travis Fimmel might reprise the role in a flashback scene for Bjorn or Lagertha.

The "Vikings" Season 5 air date has not yet been announced. Nevertheless, fans are hopeful that the series will return with a guest appearance from Travis Fimmel as Ragnar Lothbrok by late summer.
