NBA Trade News: LeBron James Shoots Down Carmelo Anthony For Kevin Love Deal

NBA trade talks are expected to ramp up in the coming weeks with Carmelo Anthony among the headliners. While the Cleveland Cavaliers had shot the deal down, opting to keep Kevin Love, a new report recently surfaced claiming LeBron James is actually pushing for it to happen.

The report comes from the NY Daily News which claimed that LeBron James was twisting the hand of Cavs management once more to make the trade happen – even if it meant dealing Kevin Love. Prior to this, the Cavs were open to a Carmelo Anthony deal if it did not involve Love. The Cavs could offer three role players instead, but New York Knicks president Phil Jackson was reportedly against it, apparently wanting more for Melo.

The Cavs recently came from a miracle win over the Washington Wizards and some reporters brought up the alleged report to James. The Cavs star called the news “trash” and “outside noise”, dodging yet again trade speculations involving the all-star forward. Cavs coach Tyronn Lue backed James on the matter, saying they have no intention of trading Kevin Love, ESPN reported.

On his end, Kevin Love shrugged it off and said the reports were nothing more than lies. Even general manager David Griffin addressed the report, making it clear that James never pushed for the trade with the Knicks. That said, the only way that Anthony goes to Cleveland is through deals that will not involve Love or any of the key stars of the ballclub.

The Cavs are currently addressing their backup guard problem with Jordan Farmar and Jose Calderon mentioned as options. They still have one more slot open which the Cavs could use to get another big man. But to do so, the team would need to waive Chris Andersen, who is out for the season after incurring a knee injury.
