NBA 2017 Latest News & Update: Jeanie Buss Talking With Kobe Bryant, Front Office Job Speculated

Los Angeles Lakers co-owner and president Jeanie Buss has created yet another round of speculations following a Twitter post showing her with recently retired Kobe Bryant. Both met last week and now most are wondering if Kobe will be next to get a role with the embattled franchise.

Earvin “Magic” Johnson was spotted last month with Jeanie Buss, both having dinner at a restaurant inside the Staples Center. The Laker legend initially called it nothing out of the ordinary and that he met with the Buss family on occasion, ESPN reported. Johnson did bare that Jeanie asked her about his opinion on the team (Lakers) and he would eventually break it down and explain.

As most know by now, Magic would eventually return to the Lakers in an advisory role. Could Kobe Bryant be next? Kobe Bryant did voice out previously that he was just a phone call away if the Lakers needed him. He commended former teammate Luke Walton for his job as head coach, knowing it was a tough position to be in.

Kobe did offer to help out though Walton believes that “tough love” is not the solution to direct the young core in the right direction, The Score reported. All that could change of Kobe does come on board at some point. Also worth noting is the fact that Jeanie Buss is holding Jim Buss on his word. This has to do with his rant that he would step down if the Lakers would not be contenders by 2017.

At the rate the Lakers are playing right now, that seems to be the case. Could Kobe be installed to replace Jim Buss? How about Mitch Kupchak? It may still be too early to tell, but seeing Kobe Bryant back with a different role should be something. But as far as helping Luke Walton, Jeanie Buss may want to see how the Byron Scott “tough love” strategy bombed out.
