'Pokemon GO' Latest News & Update: Niantic Launches Valentine's Day Event Features Double Candy, Boosted Lure Modules

"Pokemon GO" superfans are feeling the love right now, as Niantic launches Valentine's Day event that features double candy and boosted Lure Modules. In-game events that tie in with real-life events have long been known to increase awareness of the game and increase players (and thereby, revenue), which is why these studios give away freebies during such events.

Acccording to Polygon, the "Pokemon GO" Valentine's event launched yesterday at 11 a.m. and will run untul 11 a.m. on February 15. During this time, gamers will be able to enjoy twice as much candy for catching and transferring Pokemon and hatching Pokemon eggs. Moreover, Buddy Pokemon will also collect candy faster than ever before, thereby cutting down the time to half.

As Niantic launches Valentine's Day event for "Pokemon GO," gamers should expect more pink Pokemon to appear more frequently. Such Pokemon include Chansey, Clefable, and Porygon. Those who have Pokemon eggs and would like to hatch them during the Valentine's Day event will notice that there will be more of Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Smoochum around.

As for the Lure Modules, not that they will have a longer activity time during the "Pokemon GO" Valentine's Day event. Previously, Pokemon are stopped by attached Pokestops for just 30 minutes, but during the event, the Modules will be in effect for six hours straight.

Per Eurogamer, gamers are also encouraged to watch out for surprises, as Niantic often hides them in such events.
