Verizon To Release Smartwatch In March; Circle Display & Water Resistance Features Expected
LG will release its first Android 2.0 watches and alongside these, Verizon will also release its very own Smartwatch this March. Here's the latest on Verizon's new offering.
Verizon Wear24
Verizon's smartwatch, the new Wear24, runs on the newly released Android Wear 2.0 software. It has a circle display with a size of 1.39-inch and a 480 x 480 resolution. Engadget reported that the AMOLED screen is IP67 water resistant. The Verizon smartwatch will also have the usual sensors, an accelerometer, and a heart rate sensor.
According to The Verge, the connectivity options for the new Wear24 include LTE, Wi-Fi, and NFC. The smartwatch has the Android Pay support and a 450mAh battery pack, which is slightly larger than LG's 430mAh battery.
It can be recalled that Verizon has released its Ellipsis line of tablets but the Wear24 smartwatch is the first wearable device the company will release under its own name. The full specs of Wear24 hasn't been released until now but expect it to be on the higher end. Images of the Wear24 is yet to be revealed but for now it is hard to estimate how bulky or thin the device will actually be compared to present smartwatches in the market.
Verizon 24 vs LG Watch Sport and Style
LG on the other hand released their own Android 2.0 smartwatches. Reports say that the LG Watch Sport and Style are also the first Android 2.0 watches of LG.The new Verizon Wear24 smartwatch will be available on Verizon with a price tag of $300, which is $30 less than the LG Watch Sport and Style.
Wear24 will also be available with a two-year contract. Its release date is said to be on March but if you want your Android 2.0 smartwatch now, you can avail any of LG's Android 2.0 smartwatches.
