Joss Whedon Possibly Not Interested In Fox 'Firefly' Reboot, 'Serenity' Director Might Agree With Nathan Fillion
Fans recently went crazy when Fox announced that a "Firefly" reboot is possible, as long as creator Joss Whedon is on board with the project. But is it possible that the "Serenity" director is not interested in bringing back the beloved series with a new cast? Could the "Avengers: Infinity War" filmmaker be more interested in pursuing other projects with Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk?
It's no secret that Nathan Fillion feels that the infamous cult hit should be left to die although fans are still craving for more of Captain Malcolm Reynolds and his crew. Is it possible that creator Joss Whedon might agree with his former star on the fate of the series? Could Whedon decline Fox's offer for a "Firefly" reboot?
Fox President of Entertainment David Madden recently announced that the network is hoping to pursue a "Firefly" reboot following the recent revival of shows like "The X-Files", "24" and "Prison Break". However, Madden added that the series will only be brought back if creator Joss Whedon agrees to work on the reboot. The condition itself might have been an indication that such project might not happen. After all, some people are unsure whether the "Serenity" director would be eager to revisit the show without the original cast led by Nathan Fillion.
The possible return of "Firefly" has long been a heated topic, as fans believe that the series ended too soon with just one season. Although Joss Whedon eventually released "Serenity" as a follow-up to the Fox show, it may have only led to more demand for more episodes and/or films. Nathan Fillion has already stated that the first season and sole movie may have been enough already, but would Whedon agree with him?
Joss Whedon has yet to comment on Fox's announcement about a possible "Firefly" reboot. Although there is a possibility that the "Serenity" director will decide to return for the new series, the thought of Nathan Fillion's absence is still a sore issue for most fans.
