The new batch of smartphones is expected to take the spotlight this month, particularly at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. The LG G6 has been gaining ground and the latest word is that that the upcoming flagship just bumped up its chipset a notch.

With the intent of making up for a not-so-impressive performance of the LG G5, the LG G6 may have stumbled a bit with reports that the device will stick to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset. Thanks to a presentation slide, the LG G6 will stick to the Snapdragon 821, as shared by SemiAccurate. Most were hoping to get a Snapdragon 835 instead with reports that Samsung will be using it for its upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8.

Seeing how LG used the same chipset last year, a reason seen behind it is the delivery of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. As most know, Samsung has delayed the release of the Samsung Galaxy S8. With Samsung hogging the chipsets, LG would have to wait a couple of more weeks before it can get it on their end, Phone Arena reported. As most know, time is the release date of devices is essential especially if you are trying to move up the leaders in the mobile phone market segment.

Other than the chipset, the photo reveal may have also spilled some other features for the LG G6. That includes a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, dust and water resistance, quad DAC and a “Full Vision” display. As mentioned in a previous post, it will also sport a 5.7-inch QHD display, have 6 GB of RAM, dual wide-angle cameras, and front-facing stereo speakers.

Regardless, an old chipset is not expected to waylay interest on the LG G6. The fact that it is set for release earlier than the Samsung Galaxy S8 is already a point of it, probably enough time to steal some consumers aching to get a new phone this 2017.
