NBA Trade 2017 Latest News & Update: Carmelo Anthony Happy To Play On With Knicks

By Vaughn Dweebs | Update Date: Feb 16, 2017 11:47 AM EST

Carmelo Anthony’s name has been in the NBA trade rumor mill though moving him is easier said than done. He commands a high salary and has a no-trade clause, something he hasn’t really thought about for now. Apparently, the New York Knicks have not yet approached him about waiving the clause since no trade for the 32-year-old star looms for now.

Hence, this means Carmelo Anthony will have to stay put and play on, ESPN reported. And from the looks of it, all that works for the high-scoring forward. Apparently, he doesn’t see himself playing for any other team, at least not yet. He is aware that the Knicks are trying to get rid of him but until there is a feasible destination, Melo plans to focus on playing ball.

The Cleveland Cavaliers thumbed down a potential trade since the Knicks were asking for Kevin Love. The Cavs are open to getting Anthony but only if it would include other players or maybe even picks. The Boston Celtics also bowed out of the race while the Los Angeles Clippers were looking for a third team to facilitate the trade. Other than those three teams, no one has joined the Carmelo Anthony carousel yet.

Anthony has been playing stellar ball since NBA trade talk came out. Considering the distractions, Melo has been lauded for maintaining focus. In fact, he was even rewarded for his performance after being named to replace (ironically) Kevin Love in the Eastern Conference lineup for this weekend’s NBA All-Star game at New Orleans,

It will be Carmelo Anthony’s eighth all-star appearance, making him the oldest player in the East All-Star lineup. He initially planned to use the All-Star break to spend some time with his family on vacation. For some reason all that changed, NY Daily News reported. Nevertheless, a potential Carmelo Anthony trade could still happen with Feb. 23 a week away.
