Laverne Cox was recently at her candid best as she shared some interesting details about "Orange Is the New Black" Season 5. The fifth installment will premiere on Netflix in June this year.
Cox Teases "Orange Is the New Black" Season 5 Details
According to a recent report by People, Cox gushed, "It is really juicy and really amazing," as she spoke about season 5. She added that like many viewers, she is a great fan of the show. When she had the new script in her hand, she was extremely excited.
The actress had the script on her iPad and she went on scrolling to know more about the plot. Viewers will remember that season 4 ended on a major cliffhanger.
In the previous season, Poussey Washington (Samira Wiley) passed away after a riot broke out in the prison. The inmates marched towards the entrance of the jail as a symbol of protest after her tragic death.
Daya (Dascha Polanco) got hold of a gun by chance. She has to now take the final decision on whether to shoot a guard or not.
"Orange Is the New Black" Continuous Stream
Cox revealed that "Orange Is the New Black" Season 5 will continue for three days. This means that all 13 episodes will be streamed within a period of three days. Cox added, "So we are jamming a lot in. A lot happens in that period of three days."
Piper Kerman to Speak on Inmate Issues
In other news, MLive.com reported that the best-selling author Piper Kerman, who is also the main inspiration behind this hit Netflix series, will speak on Tuesday, Mar. 7 at Fountain Street Church. An organization called Humanity for Prisoners will sponsor the talks.
The event will concentrate on the subject of the re-entry of inmates into communities as well as the involvement of ladies in the criminal justice system. Kerman had penned her memoir titled "Orange Is the New Black: My year in a women's prison".
She was accused of drug trafficking and felony money-laundering in 1998 for an incident that took place in 1993. Kerman was thereafter given a sentence of 15 months in the jail.
"Orange Is the New Black" Season 5 premieres on Friday, June 9 on Netflix.
