‘Jessica Jones’ Season 2 Takes Backseat For ‘The Defenders’ & ‘Iron Fist’; Series To Have Multiple Villains Unlike Season 1
It has been more than a year since Netflix’s much-hyped television series, “Jessica Jones” premiered its first season. Although not set to release before 2018, the upcoming second season is expected to show Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones not fighting with one but multiple powerful evil characters. Here's what's next for "Jessica Jones" Season 2.
Based on a conversation with Entertainment Weekly a few months back, screenwriter, Melissa Rosenberg expressed her disinterest in having another Kilgrave in “Jessica Jones” Season 2. On the other hand, Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer of Netflix was present at the Television Critics Association in 2016 where he spoke to the press saying that Netflix subscribers would be able to watch two Marvel shows every year.
“The Defenders” and “Iron Fist” to be released in March
According to The Christian Times, “Jessica Jones” Season 2 will not hit the small screen soon because it has given way to “The Defenders” and “Iron Fist” to be aired in March. The plot is still uncommon but it is reported (via Deadline) that Raelle Tucker (showrunner and executive producer of HBO series’ “The Returned” and “True Blood”) has reportedly been tapped to work with Melissa Rosenberg for the upcoming “Jessica Jones” Season 2.
The website also reported that Raelle Tucker has replaced Liz Friedman who left the project to work on “Conviction,” a much popular legal drama television series on ABC. But Rosenberg and Jeph Loeb (Marvel TV’s Executive Vice President) expressed their excitement and interest to work with Tucker.
Fans to see multiple villains in “Jessica Jones” Season 2
One of the most important information leaked by Rosenberg is that “Jessica Jones” Season 2 will not be made to focus on only one particular villain or antagonist as the plot was for first season. It seems, after the death of Kilgrave, fans will be amused to see multiple villains in the upcoming second season.
