Ian Somerhalder Shares Fond Memories Of His Character Damon
When the actor saw the pilot, he had a gut feeling that the show will do well. His feelings were confirmed after he checked the viewer's ratings and responses. While the ratings must have seen ups and downs over the years, but "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder has always felt that the fan base has been pretty consistent.
The actor feels that the show's season 1 has been the most successful one for his character Damon. It showcased Damon's ability in such a way that the character managed to shine through the story. Somerhalder feels that it was really fun.
But in season 2, Damon had to undergo his own set of personal struggles since he had to reconcile with who he was. The character missed being a mortal. The actor feels that he had an opportunity to do some great scenes to portray Damon's feelings, according to Entertainment Weekly.
While Damon struggled to find his true love, he went through great agony when he realized that the woman he loved thought his brother Stephan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) to be a better proposition."The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder also thought that Damon enjoyed some fun moments. The actor added that learned a lot while portraying Damon's character as there were a lot of great scenes and lines for him.

The biggest betrayal was perhaps when Stefan transformed his brother into a vampire. So will the finale episode see Damon taking that much-needed cure from his brother's blood so that he can have a happy ending with Elena (Nina Dobrev)?
