Jay-Z Joins Songwriters Hall of Fame As First Announced Rapper
In an announcement by Chic's Nile Rodgers on Wednesday morning (Feb. 22, 2017), Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, the hip-hop icon became the first rapper inducted into the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame in the U.S.
Jay-Z Is A Remarkable Landmark Of Achievement
The 2017 class of inductees also included Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Terry Lewis, Robert Lamm, Max Martin, James Pankow, and Peter Cetera of Chicago. Berry Gordy, who postponed his induction from last year, also joined them. Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter and the rest of the inductees will be seen in the organization's 48th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner ceremony that will take place this coming June 15, according to Billboard.
Chic's Nile Rodgers, who announced on CBS said that "It is massive. Jay-Z has changed the way that we listen to music". Rodgers added that the rapper had changed the way people have fun. In the last two decades, multiple hits were released. The songwriters are only qualified in the Hall of Fame after having hit songs for at least 20 years of a songwriting career in the music industry. Jay-Z's debut album "Reasonable Doubt" was released in 1996. It started from "Big Pimpin" to the "Empire State of Mind."

Jay-Z responded with honor and gratitude through Twitter. He said that his achievement is a win for the United States. Jay-Z also remembers when rap was said to be a fad. The songwriter rappers make a history together with the greatest artist. This is a great victory and pride to Jay-Z and for the United States on behalf of the music industry.
There are several reasons why Jay-Z is so happy and blessed. Less than a month ago, it was announced that Jay-Z and wife Beyonce are expecting twins, following daughter Blue Ivy, per BBC.
