NBA Trade: Lakers Welcome Tyler Ennis From Houston; Gets Magic Johnson As Adviser

As fans await for reports and NBA trade talks to be confirmed, legendary player, Magic Johnson announced that he is the new adviser for the Lakers. Get to know if he will be joining the deciding team for the trade deadline.

The reports about the NBA trade deadline continues to swirl, which involves several phenomenal basketball players. Just like the players, fans are waiting for the results of the trade deadline. But, one thing is for sure, Earvin "Magic" Johnson is the new adviser for Lakers. He is now working with the team's president and co-owner, Jeanie Buss.

CBS News unveiled that Johnson admitted that he thought about the role for quite sometime. Yet, he described Buss as an intelligent and smart person, while they discuss the status of the Lakers during their annual dinner. Buss reportedly told him that she was going to make some changes and decided to bring him in.

“I thought long and hard about it, but the only team franchise I would ever go to is the Lakers,” the legendary basketball player states in an interview. Johnson who is a 12-time All Star and MVP for three times reportedly helped the Lakers to win five NBA titles during his time. Johnson had four offers to run other basketball teams such as Knicks, but he turned the offer down.

"You have to really develop your own players because free agent movement is not like it used to be," Johnson added. Johnson admitted that Lakers will need some time before they can get back up. The team has not made it into the playoffs since 2013.

He said the team will need to have 3 to five years. He will be involved in the recruitment and business of the team. “I always wanted to be the male Oprah,” he joked.]

NBA Trade: Ennis For Huertas?

Meanwhile, Hoops Habit revealed that the Lakers got Tyler Ennis from the Houston Rockets in exchange for Marcelo Huertas. Houston reportedly wants to shed the salary, as Ennis while cutting $1.7 million, while Huertas signed for $1.5 million this upcoming season.

As of this date, the results for the NBA trade deadline is yet to be revealed. Thus, readers are advised to take this with a grain of salt.
