Microsoft has been doing great with the Surface Pro 4 though most would want to see its successor – the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. While that remains to be seen there is a silent player in the midst who could give the Surface Pro 4 some completion and this is the Samsung Galaxy Book 12.

Samsung has not totally given up on its Samsung Galaxy tablet line with the Book 12 looming as an interesting Windows 10-powered device. Yahoo! Finance recently got the chance to go hands-on with the Samsung Galaxy Book 12, claiming that the threat is real. Similar to the Surface Pro series, folks don’t need to worry about functionality with the new device. The Samsung Galaxy Book 12 does come with a keyboard which should make it easier to type on.

Take note that with the Surface Pro 4, customers need to buy the attachable keyboard separately (about $130). So from that point alone, one can imagine the savings and hassle of using keyboards. Even more so, the Samsung Galaxy Book 12 features a 12-inch AMOLED display and comes armed with an Intel Core i5 processor, a choice of 4 or 8 GB of RAM, and either 128 or 256 GB of internal storage, BGR reported.

The package also includes Samsung’s S-Pen stylus, something that should come in handy when doing graphics or editing pictures. It also makes it easier to tinker around with videos for the ones looking for a handy device to work on. There are actually two Samsung Galaxy Books to choose from. Aside from the Samsung Galaxy Book 12, there is also the smaller Galaxy Book 10.

With practically the same specs, the only difference is that the Samsung Galaxy Book 10 comes with a 10-inch TFT LCD display. For those who aren’t picky, this may be a cheaper alternative, to begin with. Other notable specs include two USB Type-C ports, microSD card slots. It may not be as popular as the Surface Pro 4 or even the Apple iPad but the Galaxy Book series could be a sleeper for the 2-in-1 consumer market.
