Lionel Richie And Mariah Carey Postpones Joint Tour; Here's Why
Lionel Richie reportedly postponed his tour featuring Mariah Carey, due to a medical reason. Here's the latest on this issue.
Lionel Richie, Music Legend
Lionel Brockman Richie, 67, suspended his spring tour concert with Mariah Carey because of the recent knee surgery he had. He said in an announced statement last Friday (Feb. 24,) that he wouldn't be able to recover from his knee surgery until the end of summer.
The upcoming All Hits Tour is set to launch on Mar. 15 in Baltimore and run until May 27 this year. The tour consists of 35 shows. These shows will be in Chicago, Toronto, Boston, St. Louis, Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Detroit.
It is already revealed that Lionel Richie had a preexisting knee problem. It caused him severe pain, which made him undergo surgery last month. It was also announced that there were complications and the injury did not recover properly. That is the reason why Lionel Richie is still regaining his strength from the injury.
Lionel Richie As A Performer
According to Newsday, Lionel Richie took to social media and said that when he is performing, all of his body is moving. Unluckily, he is still recovering from his knee procedure, and he is not yet ready to perform and start the tour next month. He also said he does not want his fans to get disappointed. He is looking forward to being on stage again so that all are going to be "Dancing on the Ceiling' again."
Can Lionel Richie Still Perform?
A resounding YES. Lionel Richie will still perform onstage. His fans should not worry because the Smoothie King Center noted that purchased tickets for the original show will be honored at the new dates and performances per Philly. The upcoming tour will launch this summer and new dates will be announced soon.
