'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 Spoilers: This Is Why Finale Episode Is Titled 'I Was Feeling Epic'
"The Vampire Diaries" series finale episode is titled "I Was Feeling Epic." The showrunners explain the real reason behind why they decided to name it so.
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8: Finale Episode Title Inspired By Showrunners' Favorite Line
Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) said to Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), "We met, and we talked, and it was epic, but then the sun came up and reality set in." Elena uttered these words in the show's second episode when she was trying to reason out why they cannot unite.
Life was too complicated for the duo. But, soon Stefan did remind her that their connection was truly epic. He kissed her then for the first time while repeating the words, Entertainment Weekly noted.
Kevin Williamson, the co-creator of the show will always remember that memorable interaction and its significance for the hit show. He recalled that Julie Plec had written that amazing monolog. Williamson added, "And I remember reading it for the first time and just crying."
The co-creator also told the outlet that it was the favorite line for Plec in the entire show. Williamson mentioned how from the very beginning, they kept reiterating in the writing room, "It has to be epic." After all, they truly wanted "an epic moment."
Williamson strongly feels that the entire show has been about innumerable epic moments and so that was the line. Thus, when the moment came to bid adieu to the show, both Williamson and Plec wanted just one kind of series finale. And of course "It had to be epic," according to Williamson.
