It didn't actually break the Internet, but a four-hour interruption at Amazon's AWS cloud computing distribution induced difficulties for a lot of websites over the country.. Amazon web services is the web provider of some websites and mobile applications such as Spotify, Snapchat and Netflix.
Amazon provides cloud-based storage and web services for businesses so they don't have to create their own server farms, supporting them to immediately expand computing power without having to spend in infrastructure, as reported by USA Today. The outage happened last Tuesday, Feb. 28.
Other Details About The Outage
According to the report posted by NPR, the outage seemed to have begun around 12:35 pm ET, according to Catchpoint Systems, a digital experience monitoring organization. Operations were fully restored after four hours.
"The most frequent causes of this variety of interruption are software associated, said Lydia Leong, a cloud analyst with Gartner. Both a bug in the code or human oversight. Right now we don't know what it was. "The operation that went down was the first of what now are three AWS regions in the United States. It is still the biggest and is also where AWS applying new features, so it's disproportionately big, Leong added.
