As the curtains are about to close on the hit supernatural series "The Vampire Diaries," Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley pick their favorite episode from all eight seasons. Meanwhile, it is sheer nostalgia as many recollect the dilemma of Nina Dobrev's Elena, who was torn between the two Salvatore brothers in the beginning.

There is not only one but quite a few outstanding episodes in the last eight seasons of "The Vampire Diaries." In fact, if any fan would be asked to choose their favorite episode, they will say they have not one but many favorites.

When Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley were asked the same question, they managed to pick that one episode, though it was not a screen opener or a finale. Surprisingly, when the duo was asked to choose the best episode from the entire series, they instantly pointed to Season 1 Episode 5, Screener reported.

Wesley said, "It was this episode called 'Lost Girls.'" Ian Somerhalder added, "It was my favorite episode ever." The actor further mentioned that his business manager, who is like an elder brother to him was in town then.

The actor shared that they were all sitting in Wesley's " gorgeous apartment" in Atlanta watching the episode. When the episode ended, Ian Somerhalder saw this guy, Michael and the latter simply said, "This is going to go, guys. This is going to be here for a while. You should probably dig your heels in."

In case viewers do not remember, "Lost Girls" was the first episode of the show that had a flashback of both Damon and Stefan courting Katherine as humans in 1864. The episode showcased how the duo met, and their brotherly love for one another.

The episode also teased a new dynamic altogether, since Stefan and Damon were constantly at loggerheads in the previous episodes. It also revealed that Damon and Stefan became vampires long after Katherine.

Nina Dobrev's Elena Was Confused In "The Vampire Diaries" In the Beginning

Goldderby wrote that the series was based on a popular book series by L.J. Smith with the same name. When the series started, it was the tale of a cheerleader and a high-school student called Elena (Nina Dobrev).

Elena was confused about her feelings for the two Salvatore brothers. While Stefan was sensitive and tortured, his brother Damon was the proverbial bad boy with a good soul.
