Fans and followers of Chrissy Teigen would agree that she is the type of person who doesn't hold back when speaking her mind or just about anything in Twitter and other social media platforms. But there's just this one issue that the model, television host, social media savvy, and wife to Grammy Award-winning John Legend hasn't had shared yet - until now.

Chrissy Teigen has finally sat down and shared to her fans and more than 4.5 million Twitter followers that she struggled with postpartum depression. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, post partum depression can affect as many as one of seven women in United States.

"Before this, I had never, ever -- in my whole entire life -- had one person say to me: 'I have postpartum depression,' " Chrissy Teigen shared in an essay she wrote for Glamour Magazine. "I didn't have anything remotely close to those feelings."

She refers to postpartum depression being a disorder wherein people don't have any love or affection for their newborns to the point of harming them. She also pointed out Susan Smith, the infamous mother who was convicted for drowning her children back in 1995.

However, what she experienced was months of mental and physical struggles. She found it hard to get up; she lost her appetite, and even had a slight breakdown while on the set of her show "Lip Sync Battle." She was deep into depression so much that she didn't leave the house anymore, unless she has to go to the studio and, eventually, didn't go upstairs anymore to bed and stayed in one spot to rest or sleep.

"I couldn't figure out why I was so unhappy. I blamed it on being tired and possibly growing out of the role, "she wrote. Chrissy Teigen also added that postpartum depression doesn't choose or discriminate, that is why it took her a while to realize and got professional help.

Right after her essay was published Monday (Mar. 6), Chrissy Teigen posted a photo on Twitter that shows her husband and daughter Luna, wherein the mother and daughter held a piece of paper with "#LoveMeNow" written on it. It is also the name of the Legend's song.
