If it is any indication that the US Women's Soccer team needs more work, then the SheBelieves Cup will be it. France won the match 3-0 and by doing so, won the tournament held in Washington at the RFK Stadium.

France Dominates Tournament

According to Washington Post, France dominated the USA in the match with better passing and technical ability to control the ball. They scored two goals, barely 10 minutes into the match. A third goal late in the game firmly shut the door on the US Women's Soccer team.

Room For Development

This performance comes in the heels of the US Women's Soccer coach, Jill Ellis' attempt to test the skills of the players she has after the six-month suspension of Hope Solo turned into a non-renewal of her contract with the US Soccer Federation. A surgery on her shoulder also put the nail on the coffin of her return to the US Women's soccer team.

Hope Solo was suspended from the team for the scathing remarks she made after the US Women's Soccer team's match against Sweden at the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil. Still, US Women's Soccer Team captain Carli Lloyd believes that while it is disappointing, they are moving in the right direction and their goal of getting into the Women's World Cup and the 2020 Olympics can still be realized through hard work and training (via ESPN).

The Experiment Continues

Coach Ellis is satisfied with the result of the tournament even while they finished last. The US Women's Soccer team was trying a new system against world-class athletes to be able to gauge the level they are at. But the 3-0 loss to France is the worst loss on US soil since 2003. And this places the US women's soccer team dead-last in the four-nation tournament. The next scheduled games for the team will be the friendlies against Russia to be held in Frisco and Houston, Texas.
