'Game of Thrones' Season 7 News & Update: HBO Teases New Poster & Video Unveiling Premiere Date
The highly anticipated "Game of Thrones" Season 7 finally has a release date. HBO shared a new poster teasing the premiere of the penultimate season of the critically acclaimed series, which is on July 16, Sunday at 9 p.m.
The George R. R. Martin-created, multi-award-winning series will bring back series regulars (those who are still alive at least). The teaser poster was unveiled just in time for the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas.
New "GoT" Poster And Video
According to Gamespot, the poster hints at the the brewing fire and ice war, as Daenerys and her dragons are headed towards Westeros, while the Night King's army are emerging form Beyond the Wall. HBO has also released a short video featuring voice overs from the main characters in "Game of Thrones" Season 7, and unveiling the official premiere date of the show.
"Everyone who isn't us is an enemy," Cersei warned. "I know what my father was. What he did. I know the Mad King earned his name," Daenerys explained. The video was posted to the official "Game of Thrones" Season 7 Facebook page and has since viewed over 18 million times. The upcoming seventh season of the highly anticipated series comes later than anticipated, as the previous seasons usually premiered in March or April.
Jim Broadbent's "GoT" Role
In other "Game of Thrones" Season 7 news, series newcomer Jim Broadbent recently hinted at the role he will play in the new season. The actor shared to Screencrush that he will play an "old professor character" when the show returns in July.
