'Outlander' Season 3 Spoilers: James McAnerney Joins Sam Heughan And Caitriona Balfe in Cast

Sottish actor James McAnerney is the latest to join the cast of "Outlander" Season 3. Meanwhile, the Programming President of Starz tries to explain why the series is returning in Sept. this year.

McAnerney is known for his characters in movies like "Neds," "Glasgow Girls," and "Book of Blood." The actor will be seen in Starz's time-travel drama when it returns to television screens this Sept.

The actor recently showed off his passport stamped with a visa for South Africa in his Twitter account, proudly confirming his appointment for the upcoming season. He also shared his experiences on the sets with an "Outlander" blog.

McAnerney admitted, "It was incredible. The detail that the art department, costume, and make up departments went to was phenomenal." He also added, "Everyone was so lovely, from the director, to the production team, to the cast. Sam and Cait were so nice and welcoming."

However, Starz is yet to confirm the character this Glasgow-born actor will portray in "Outlander" Season 3, Daily Record wrote. The good news for fans is that they can look forward to two more seasons, which are adapted from Diana Gabaldon's "Voyager" and "Drums of Autumn," respectively.

There are pictures being teased by the show's executive producer Matthew B. Roberts on his Instagram account. The pictures are mesmerizing and have definitely made fans excited about the new episodes.

Meanwhile, the crew and cast of "Outlander" Season 3 have shifted their production base from Scotland to South Africa. The important sea-voyage scenes for season 3 are being shot there now.

Release Date Of "Outlander" Season 3

Though the actual date is not yet out, "Outlander" Season 3 is expected to premiere in Sept. this year. The President of Programming for Starz, Carmi Zlotnik shared why the series will return in that month, Den of Geek noted.

Zlotnik mentioned, "The scale of this book is immense, and we owe the fans the very best show. Returning in September will make that possible." So, does it also mean that there will be a longer season as well?
