Romelu Lukaku Will Not Sign New Contract, But Negotiations Still Ongoing; Here's The Details
Romelu Lukaku is a Belgian footballer who performs as a striker for Premier League club Everton and the Belgium national team. Let's know more about his career.
The Football Career Of Romelu Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku began his profession with local side, Rupel Boom before participating in Lierse, where he made a move to Anderlecht of the Belgian Pro League in 2006. He made his expert debut at the age of 16. After three years of playing, he became the top scorer of the team and they made it to the championship.
In 2011, Romelu Lukaku transferred to Chelsea and played for the team for two consecutive seasons. After three years, he decided to transfer to Everton and signed a contract with the team.
Is Romelu Lukaku Transferring To Another Team?
Everton was enthusiastic to retain Romelu Lukaku in their club. He still has two years remaining on his current agreement.
Lukaku is their highest-paid athlete on a contract worth £100,000 per week. Last month, the athlete's agent, Mino Raiola, said that Lukaku planned to neglect business from Chelsea and entrust his future to Everton but the discussions have broken down with the player telling the club on Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 14), that he will not confirm the deal as it stands, per Sky Sports.
In another report from The Mirror, the 23-year-old athlete has 25 goals in 32 presentations for club and country this season, moving him on course for his most productive period yet, but disappointments about Everton's fruitless search for Champions League football have made the Belgian think that his fate lies elsewhere.
It is assumed that Lukaku could confirm a new contract, but only if it includes affordable release conditions. Should Everton choose to sell, they will require making a sizeable interest on the £28 million they spent on him three years ago, ruling out all but the richest European clubs - but where will he end up?
