For many, the wait for "The Originals" Season 4 has been a rather long one but a recent clip, which was released just days before the premiere, has raised fans' expectations further. The video teases what looks like the starting point of the new season's first episode.

"The Originals" Season 4 Premiere May Provide Important Explanations

According to an exclusive report by TVLine, the new season picks up five years after the incidents that took place in the previous season. But as of date, there could be something not right with the clip, for it simply shows a link and nothing more.

However, it seems that the premiere of "The Originals" Season 4 will offer an explanation into the Originals' whereabouts. It can also highlight the status of New Orleans.

The outlet also mentioned that the Originals lay in their coffins in a deep slumber, even after almost half a decade. This was what the family had to go through after the trial of Klaus (Joseph Morgan) when season 3 ended.

Review Of "The Originals" Season 3

In season 3, viewers were introduced to the first descendants of Rebekah (Claire Holt), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Klaus. Moreover, Aurora (Rebecca Breeds), Tristan (Oliver Ackland), and Lucien (Andrew Lees) were seen going to New Orleans in response to a prophecy that the siblings would not remain alive. The descendants are quite concerned, as when an Original dies, it means the demise of all the vampires in that particular bloodline.

Enemies of Klaus invaded the city to teach him a lesson for his acts. But thanks to Rebekah's efforts, Marcel decided not to kill him but instead, inflict suffering for a lifetime through the blade of Papa Tunde.

It is because of the sacrifices made by Klaus, that even Rebekah, Freya. and Elijah fall into a deep slumber, so that Haley is able to get a cure for them. Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly noted that both Elijah and Klaus are suffering from Marcel's bite, which appears to be incurable.

On the other hand, Rebekah is undergoing torture due to a witch's Hex, while Freya's (Riley Voelkel) misery is aggravated due to the poison given by The Strix. Tune in to The CW for the premiere of "The Originals" Season 4 at 8 p.m. on Mar. 17.
