Although, avoiding an important revelation appeared to be quite agonizing for many die-hard fans of the show. Meanwhile, social media was flooded with posts from fans who seemed upset about the last episode. A majority of them mentioned that they were shattered more because the reason for the character's demise was not unfolded, rather than learning that Jack will be dead soon.

The plot of the finale episode revolved around the first meeting of Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Jack. It also hinted the possibility of an end to their marriage around two decades later. The episode also featured the Pearson kids and viewers got an idea about their plans.
