Katy Perry recently revealed that she came from a community where gays are being prayed away. The singer also reinstated her support for the LGBT community. 

The singer recently gave a speech at the 2017 HRC Los Angeles Gala, as she received that the National Equality Award. Katy Perry said that her 2008 hit single "I Kissed A Girl And I Liked It" was a message for the world about accepting gays, E! Online said in a report.

"Truth be told, I did more than that!" Katy Pery added about the title of the hit song. The singer, who dated Orlando Bloom, said that when she was that girl who was raised in youth groups and was curious about truth on sexuality. "But in 2008, when that song came out, I knew that it started a conversation that a lot of the world seemed curious enough to sing along to it," Katy Perry said.

The "Thinking Of You" singer, who was raised by parents who are pastors, said that she once belonged to a community who prayed the gays away from camps. Despite being raised in conservative community, Katy Perry still believes that she was raised there for a reason and that she cannot choose her family, but she can actually choose her tribe.
