"Power Rangers" has opened in cinemas, much to the delight of those who grew up watching the "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers." The film has received mixed reviews, but it's to early to tell its final earnings, as it is still currently showing in theaters.

Nonetheless, many are already anticipating a sequel to one of this year's most anticipated films. In fact, there's already buzz on the addition of the Green Ranger, known as Tommy Oliver. The end credits scene has hinted at his existence, and while there's not much to go on with, here's everything you need to know about the possible Green Ranger.

Who Will Play The Green Ranger?

If you've seen "Power Rangers," you'll know that the Green Ranger will most likely be introduced in "Power Rangers 2." The character is so open to interpretation because of the end credits scene in the recently released film. As per the cast, however, they want Tommy Oliver to be a girl. But that's not everything you need to know about the possible Green Ranger.

"Power Rangers" star Dacre Montgomery told The Hollywood Reporter that if it were up to the cast, they would definitely pick a female Green Ranger. He explained, "It makes it even, three girls, three boys." He added that it would be interesting to see the drama and dynamic a new female Ranger would bring to the table. Here's everything you need to know about the possible Green Ranger.

Meet The Green Ranger

According to Comicbook, the Green Ranger's origins trace back to Tommy Oliver being the first evil Power Ranger. He was a victim of brainwashing by Rita Repulsa and was ordered to destroy the Power Rangers. It was the Red Ranger who broke the spell and after returning to the good side, he morphed into the White Ranger and became the leader of the Power Rangers.

But will "Power Rangers 2" follow this same storyline, or will they deviate? Fans and viewers will have to wait and see for more information on the anticipated sequel. For now, catch "Power Rangers" in theaters or check out the trailer below.
