Since "Suicide Squad" opened last year to positive reviews from both moviegoers and critics alike, it has been an assumption that the film would launch a franchise and create a sequel. There's no solid details on a sequel just yet, but there will be a spin-off called "Gotham City Sirens," which will feature Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, alongside two other female characters, Poison Ivy and Catwoman.

The latest news surrounding the highly anticipated film is that "Interstellar" and "Crimson Peak" actress, Jessica Chastain would love to play Poison Ivy in "Suicide Squad" spin-off. Although reportedly, she has one condition.

What Was The Condition?

In talking with Cinema Blend, Jessica Chastain admitted that she would love to play Poison Ivy in "Suicide Squad" spin-off currently titled "Gotham City Sirens." The "Interstellar" actress explained that she has an interest in female characters who are "strong and dynamic, and not stereotypes or objects." She added that if the Poison Ivy role in "Gotham City Sirens" would fit that definition, then she would love to sign up for the role.

It's now up to David Ayer's "Gotham City Sirens" to produce such "strong, dynamic" female characters as one would with a superhero film. If the success of "Suicide Squad" is any indication, there is a demand for such films and in this instance, DC would be going ahead of Marvel in making an all-woman superhero film.

In fact, they're already a step ahead with "Wonder Woman," which arrives this year as well. Now that Jessica Chastain would love to play Poison Ivy in "Suicide Squad" spin-off, it's now in David Ayer's hands to create the character.

Who Else Will Is In The Running For Poison Ivy?

According to Comicbook, Jessica Chastain isn't the only name linked to the Poison Ivy role in "Gotham City Sirens," as there was a rumor that Megan Fox was also up for the part. "Mr. Robot" actress, Steph Corneliussen's name was also linked to the project. To keep up with the latest on "Gotham City Sirens," make sure to bookmark this page.
