'The Walking Dead' Season 8: Showrunner Promises New Episodes Will 'Melt Minds' ; Big Time Jump

"The Walking Dead" Season 7 had its finale episode last Sunday (Apr.2), when Rick Grime's team promised to go against the devious Negan. Meanwhile, showrunner Scott Gimple has indicated that viewers can expect a big time jump in "The Walking Dead" Season 8.

The final episode of "The Walking Dead" finale ended with a promise that team Rick Grimes and the uniting communities including a The Sanctuary, Hilltop and Alexandria will revolt again the barbarian Negan. For this purpose, they need to rebuild their community.

The finale episode of AMC's zombie drama was titled "The First Day of the Rest of Your Life" and was aired last Sunday. The members of the cast reacted positively with the way events unfolded in the concluding episode, NME reported.

In the original comics by Robert Kirkman, a few years have been skipped in "The Walking Dead" prior to the introduction of the Whisperers. The showrunner was candid about it as well. Gimple said, "For the people who read the comics, they're going to be expecting this."

The showrunner added, "We're doing the book, we do all sorts of variations on it, and then we do things that are inspired by it and then we change things up with a remix." Gimple also said that certain things occur in the time jump that is "super interesting". Viewers could see stuff like that, Express.co.uk wrote via Hollywood Reporter.

He teased that it could be a different type of time jump though. Gimple further mentioned that there will be "a little bit more content," which Robert Kirkman refers to. The showrunner also hinted that there could be bad days for the traitor, Eugene in the upcoming season after he switched sides and joined the Saviors.

"The Walking Dead" Season 8 is slated to premiere in Oct. this year, when Gimple promised that it will "melt minds".
