24-year-old Woman With 70-pound Ovarian Cyst Removal and Surgery Procedure [VIDEO]
A 24-year-old woman from Mexico had a 70-pound ovarian cyst removed from her stomach. The ovarian cyst removal took five full hours and the surgery procedure removed the cyst with the measurements of 20 inches across and 61 inches around, the Daily Mail reports.
The woman, whose identity remains to be hidden for privacy purposes, got alarmed when she was gaining weight when in fact, she was on a diet. She said that her arms, legs and her face, were all thin but her stomach kept on growing in an alarming state. In just less than a year, the woman looked like she was pregnant with 10 babies.
The 24-year-old decided to have it checked and scans revealed that her growing belly is caused by an ovarian cyst. Doctors said that it is now recorded as the largest cyst in history.
Dr. Erik Hanson Viana from Mexico General Hospital advised the woman to stay as a patient and the Dr. Viana planned out a surgery procedure to remove the enormous 70-pound cyst that was already crushing the woman's internal organs, the Fit Maintenance noted.
According to Dr. Hanson, the woman's cyst was so large that it took up 95 percent of her abdomen, which makes eating, walking and daily activities a challenge. The ovarian cyst removal was successful and Dr. Hanson, together with a team of doctors, took the cyst out safely without puncturing it.
The woman was able to recover fast. After six months, the doctors checked on how the scar was healing and other problems, but the woman was fully recovered and standing completely straight.
Ovarian cysts are usually painless and harmless; the WebMD explains but if symptoms of pelvic pains before and after period occurs, or if heaviness in the abdomen topped with an unexplained pressure on the bladder pursues, it would be best to consult the doctor.
