Shooting, Car Accident Injure Teen at FDA Laboratory
Outside the Food and Drug Administration's Pacific Regional Laboratory Northwest in the Seattle, Washington area, a teen boy was shot. However, police do not appear to be sure whether the 15-year-old boy was injured at the scene of the shooting or in a car accident that occurred afterwards.
According to King 5 News, the police initially reported that the boy sustained injuries that were not life-threatening from the shooting. They then said that he was later found at a nearby house, and was taken to an area hospital. That story has since been changed.
A witness to the incident said that 15 students were reportedly smoking cigarettes outside the office building at around 7:15 AM this morning. The witness reportedly heard two gunshots and then saw a slow-moving car in the parking lot. A baseball cap and a side-view mirror were obtained from the scene.
According to KOMO News, tire tracks could be seen, which went from the street in front of the building to a grassy meridian.
The police changed their story to state that the police officer had shot at a vehicle in the parking lot. A quarter-mile away, that vehicle was implicated in a hit-and-run accident. It is not clear whether the teenager's injuries were obtained from the shooting or the accident. Police have not yet explained why the security guard was shooting at the vehicle.
The guard is employed by a company contracted by the FDA for office security.
Both the local police and officers from the Department of Homeland Security responded to the scene.
A nearby school, the Northshore Academy, was placed on lockdown following the incident.
