Edward Nygma AKA Riddler is the latest character will make his most-awaited transformation as one of the greatest "Batman" villains that Gordon will face in "Gotham" Season 3. Read on for more details.

"Gotham" Season 3 comes back after several months of hiatus. The return of "Gotham" will include Edward Nygma's supervillain counterpart as the Riddler. Actor Cory Michael Smith played the role since the first season.

Riddler Finally Appears On "Gotham" Season 3

According to Screen Rant, Smith makes his new status official in the recently released photos. His Riddler stayed true to one of his villain costumes, with his green-colored business suit and bowler hat. Viewers have yet to see his signature cane as well.

Smith's Riddler is the latest live-action version after Jim Carrey wore his question-mark print bodysuit in 1995. The comedian took part in the stellar cast for the "Batman Forever" movie, starring Val Kilmer. Prior to the modern Riddlers, Frank Gorshin played the role in the 1960s.

Who Is Gotham's Riddler?

The new Edward Nygma is way different from the shy forensic scientist for the Gotham Police Department who had a crush on Kristin Kringle. After going insane, he became Oswald Cobblepot as his chief of staff.

In the previous episodes, he sought the help of other villains to oust Penguin as the mayor. He and his team ended up killing their former leader. Then, they began leading the underground crime world.

“Nygma convinces himself that he doesn’t need Penguin to succeed and begins to introduce himself to Gotham as “The Riddler.” Bullock and Lucius Fox get caught up in Nygma’s mind games, while Gordon learns troubling news about his father’s death. Edward Nygma and his Riddler character will be the focus of the upcoming "Gotham" Season 3 episode. It will air on Apr. 24, 2017.

"Gotham" Season 3 Episode 15 will have the title "Heroes Rise: How The Riddler Got His Name." According to the official synopsis from Futon Critic, it will pick up after the events that led to Penguin's death.

In the said episode, Nygma has chosen Bullock and Lucius Fox as the newest victims of his deadly mind games. Meanwhile, Gordon and the Court of the Owls will have their issues to solve.
