"Game of Thrones" Season 7: Fan-Favorite Character Will Return

Actress Carice van Houten uploaded an image on Twitter over the weekend. The picture teased Melisandre's return in "Game of Thrones" Season 7.

The actress showed off her character's practical effects transformation to portray the true form of the sorceress, which is an elderly woman, Games Radar wrote. Viewers who follow the series know that Melisandre has had a great deal of influence over several key characters.

She whispers prophecies about gods in their ears. The character also claims that she supports the good and is a follower of theLord of Light. However, there are times when she resorts to undesirable activities - like giving birth to monsters and conducting human sacrifices.

It was Melisandre who revived Jon Snow by bringing him back from the dead. And apart from her, no one else can understand her motives. Moreover, it is great fun to watch this character in "Game of Thrones."

"Game of Thrones" And "A Song of Ice and Fire" Connection

The series has viewers from different age groups. When this widely popular HBO show was yet to start, readers could only access the Seven Kingdoms through "A Song of Ice and Fire" series by George R.R. Martin.

The series already has five books and "The Winds of Winter" the sixth book, which is currently in progress. The book which was completed recently is titled "A Dance with Dragons."

It has been reported that the upcoming book titled, "The Winds of Winter" is likely to cover season 6, as well as some parts of "Game of Thrones" Season 7, Raw Story noted. There have been some delays in the book's release, as Martin appears to be still working on it.

Meanwhile, fans can look forward to "Game of Thrones" Season 7, which will air new episodes starting July 16 on HBO.
