DC is expanding its TV universe with a possible "Superman" sequel. The brand new series "Krypton" will air the pilot episode this year. Check out the details below.

David S. Goyer ("Constantine") developed the series with Damian Kindler ("Sleepy Hollow"). Joining them as EP is Ian B. Goldberg from "Once Upon A Time." It is produced by DC Comics with Phantom Four and Warner Horizon TV.

"Krypton" is an upcoming superhero TV series that may shed some light on Superman's mysterious lineage. The upcoming sci-fi will feature his grandfather Seg-El as the protagonist.

"Krypton" Synopsis

According to io9's Gizmodo, a 90-minute trailer recently appeared on Vimeo. Reports said that SyFy has not officially acknowledged the recently leaked video.

The said clip kicked off with the introduction of Seg-El. Set 200 years before Superman's birth, the citizens considered him and the other members of House of El as rebels. Seg-El narrated some details about the hardships that their family had encountered in the past. He then began his mission to save the House of El.

The video continued as a cloaked person approached and told him to find the Fortress. The latter even gave him a metal emblem. Seg-El is seen cutting his own palm before dropping some of his blood on the "S" symbol.

"Krypton" Cast Members And Other Details

The SyFy show is DC's latest attempt at providing a "prequel" universe for the beloved comic book superheroes since FOX's "Gotham." Aside from this, "Krypton" is the third TV series in the last decade. The studio previously worked on "Smallville" and the ongoing "Supergirl" show.

Newcomer actor Cameron Cuffe plays the role of Seg-El with Georgina Campbell as Lyta Zod, his onscreen love interest. Other cast members are Ian McElhinney, Elliot Cowan, Ann Ogbomo, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day and Aaron Pierre.

The network ordered the pilot episode in May last year, IGN reported. "Peaky Blinders" director worked on the episode written by Goyer and Kindler.

"Krypton" Season 1 Episode 1 will air in 2017. Stay tuned for more details.
