'Dirty Dancing' Remake: First Trailer Released; What You Need To Know About Classic Love Story [VIDEO]
"Dirty Dancing" will have a remake that will be airing on small screens very soon. The first trailer of the remake has already been released and gives fans a glimpse of how the story goes for Baby (Abigail Breslin) and Johnny (Colt Prattes).
What To Expect From ABC Remake?
ABC will be doing the remake of the hit movie from 1987, "Dirty Dancing." The story is the same from the original one and still, gives fans the love story of Baby falling in love with dancer, Johnny. The original version was portrayed by Jennifer Grey as Baby Houseman and Patrick Swayze as Johnny Castle, as reported by WPXI News.
There are hints that the remake for "Dirty Dancing" will deeper explore the lives of Baby and Johnny, right after their summer romance. It can be recalled that the original version had Baby go with her family in Catskills.
She comes from a prominent family and her future is well planned. She then gets to meet Johnny, a camp dance instructor and has a history opposite from her. Baby gets to be the dance partner of Johnny for a competition in "Dirty Dancing." As they learn the dance moves, they begin to fall in love with each other.
Will Remake Stray Away From Original Plot?
Meanwhile, the remake will still have the original story as it kicks in. This time it is hinted that a deeper exploration of the characters is set to be expected in the upcoming "Dirty Dancing" show. There will still be the sensual dance moves from the main casts according to Refinery 29.
This remake for "Dirty Dancing" will soon kick off on ABC and the cats include Sarah Hyland as Lisa Houseman and Debra Messing as Marjorie Houseman. Additional cast members are Bruce Greenwood to portray the character of Dr. Jake Houseman, Nicole Scherzinger as Penny Rivera, and Katey Sagal as Vivian Pressman. Billy Dee Williams is also part of the remake as Tito.
"Dirty Dancing" remake is set to air on May 24.
