What Is The Story About?

Margaret Atwood the author of the book "The Handmaid's Tale" wrote and first published her novel in 1985. It was during the time when the administration was under Reagan. This year, Hulu is set to stream the adaptation.

This dystopian story tells of Offred (Elizabeth Moss), who is a wife and mother. She is a strong woman determined to free herself from being a handmaid. "The Handmaid's Tale" will focus on Offred's story and how she was taken from her family to be a center for reproduction by the head of the government.

The women in Gilead are forced to bear children for the ruling class. They are to do this on behalf of the barren wives of these men. The women in Gilead do not have the freedom and intimacy for them is forbidden, as reported by Rolling Stone.
