According to a recent report from Teen Vogue, Demi Lovato upset her fans and doctors after she promoted her detox tea drink on Instagram. The "Heart Attack" singer shared her honest messages and tips for self-care and mental health on social media often times. Yet, her followers are unhappy about her message about eating disorder and her recovery from it.

Demi Lovato Upsets Fans With Tea Promotion

On the Instagram post of Demi Lovato, she was seen holding a mug with a label, "Teami." The "Let It Go" singer promoted her tea in a sponsored photo. Lovato has been accused of promoting unhealthy habits and weight loss.

"This year is all about #selflove ?? truly taking care of myself and exercising has changed everything for me. @teamiblends has #sponsored my 30 day detox challenge ????? to help get rid of toxins and my bloating for summer," Lovato states on her IG post.

"I am on Day 7 right now & it is so easy! I just drink their tea every single day in my favorite purple tumbler," she continued. "I love taking it to shoots and the studio with me. If you are ready to be your best YOU this summer, use my Code: DEMI for 20% off your detox program when you check out! I want all of you to do the challenge with me! #thankyouteami #teamitumbler #healthylifestyle."

Some of her Instagram followers even stated that they were also dealing with an eating disorder, and that they think Lovato's post is triggering. Detox tea and other drinks reportedly have a lot of side effects and Lovato's post made doctors warn the public.

Doctor Warns Public About Tea Side Effects

As per Irish ndependent, detox tea has a lot of side effects, including diarrhea and abdominal cramping. These "teatoxes" reportedly have senna leaves, which means that it will stop your body from absorbing the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals from food - which is not healthy at all.

"Most teas are an infusion of leaves and wouldn't have any calories but might have an effect whereby they make you feel satisfied, but would not have a physiological effect on your body," Dr. Mary Flynn from the Food Safety Authority said. "If a tea has something in it that has a medicinal effect, in this case senna leaf, there is no way to tell how safe it is for the wide spectrum of people it is available to.

As of now, Demi Lovato has stayed mum about the criticisms she received from the public in regards to her detox tea promotion. Stay tuned for more updates.
