Lena Dunham Health Update

Page Six exclusively reported that Dunham only had a short red carpet appearance at the arts event in New York. She left the festivities as the other attendees continued to have fun. The 30-year-old actress was brought to the emergency room a few hours upon her Met Gala arrival.

A series of tests took place and fortunately for Dunham, the doctors did allow her to go home. According to an insider, she is now recuperating from the complications of her illness.

This is not the first time that she had a medical issue. She publicly addressed her journey in 2015. Titled as "The Sickest Girl," the actress-turned-author shared a long post on her Lenny Letter website.

Dunham revealed she is now "disease-free," following the fifth surgery procedure done on her. However, she acknowledged the fact that it might return in the future. She added, "All that will remain is my long-term relationship with pain, and it’s time to get real about that.”

Endometriosis: Symptoms, Causes, Treatment, And More

Lena Dunham suffers from endometriosis, an illness where excessive tissues grow outside the uterus wall. A study shows that 176 million girls and women had this condition. It usually happens during their reproduction period.

According to the Endometriosis Foundation of America, women can experience several symptoms such as pelvic pain, infertility, cramps, and even pain during intercourse. There is still no known cause for endometriosis but there are several theories behind it.

The outlet also reported on the possible treatment or preventive methods before the endometriosis gets worse. Laparoscopic excision surgery will remove both the lesions and tissue behind the surface. However, ablation is considered as a temporary solution.

In other news, Dunham is part of the month-long mental health advocacy for child Mind Institute. Stay tuned for more updates on Lena Dunham's health.
