Mindfulness Meditation Leaves Huge Impact On Brain; Know About Process Of Controlling The Mind

Some recent researches claimed that mindfulness meditation may bring different results. The experiences of meditation are expected to be different based on gender.

Other studies have discovered that the meditators are blessed with strengthened memory, improved focus or concentration, reduced fatigue, and much more. Get to know more details about it, here.

Before going into other results, let’s first see how mindfulness meditation is literally able to transform the brain if one is a good practitioner. A neuroscientist at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Sara Lazar, recently said that they have tracked the meditators’ brains after eight weeks in five different regions in the brain.

How Mindfulness Meditation Changes The Brain

According to Futurism, Lazar said that mindfulness meditation thickens four regions in the brain. Previous reports also stated that it increases the grey matter in multiple parts of the brain, such as the prefrontal cortex and anterior cingulate cortex, followed by an increase in cortical thickness in the hippocampus.

A recent research is performed on college students, as they were included in the meditation training. The researchers found that women were more like than men to inform them that their mood is highly improved with the practice, as reported by Reuters via Daily Mail.

Research Shows Meditation Also Cures Other Peculiar Diseases

The source added that mindfulness meditation is nowadays an increasingly popular form of mental training in school and college campuses. According to the National Institutes of Health, prolonged practice reduces high blood pressure, depression, frustration, anxiety, insomnia, gastrointestinal symptoms, and much more. Reports even showed that patients suffering from ulcerative colitis have gotten relief by regularly practicing it.

How To Practice Mindfulness Meditation

The process mainly involves training the mind by simply observing or witnessing the mind waves without any judgment (whether it’s good or bad). However, since mind waves are more subtle than respiration, one can start concentrating on the respiration process without the impression of controlling it.

Simply watching the movement of air through the nostrils for 15-20 minutes shortens the crest and trough of the mind waves. Then it will be quite easy to catch hold of your mind waves and analyze every desire that arises in your mind.

Once you go deeper, you will get to see the constant ego arising in your mind as the main epicenter of all your mental and physical agonies. Going deeper and deeper will make you understand “Ego rules the world.”

Going through this process, you will never know when you reach the trance and your conscious mind will be stopped for certain minutes. Stay tuned for more updates.
