Ramazan Yilmaz, a 40-year-old father of two, sought relief for a toothache at a private dental clinic in Nilüfer, only to endure a harrowing ordeal that landed him in the hospital with a dental implant lodged in his brain cavity.

According to Mr. Yilmaz, the dentist recommended extracting his loose teeth and replacing them with implants due to his delicate bone structure.

Trusting the purported expertise of the dentist, who claimed 24 years of experience, Mr. Yilmaz consented to the procedure.

However, complications emerged during the surgery, altering the course of his life.

"Later, while pulling my teeth and performing the implant procedure on the same day, he informed his secretary that the device he was using was faulty," Yilmaz recalled, Metro reported.

"He then proceeded to perform the procedure manually. As he attempted to place the screw, I noticed he was exerting excessive force."

"I pointed this out to him, mentioning that I heard a bone-cracking sound. However, he reassured me that it was normal."

"But as he continued to force the screw, it pierced through my jawbone and into the area behind the eye where the brain and spinal fluid are located."

The excruciating pain prompted Mr. Yilmaz to seek immediate medical attention. Despite his agony, he recounted the dentist's delay in acknowledging the severity of the situation, only taking action after Mr. Yilmaz's persistent screams of pain.

Following a CT scan and consultations with expert physicians at Uludag University Hospital, Mr. Yilmaz underwent a lengthy surgical procedure to remove the misplaced implant from his skull.

"Before the operation, they warned me that I could lose my life."

"I made peace with my children and bid them farewell."

Fortunately, he survived the ordeal and was discharged after several days of recovery.

Despite the physical and emotional trauma endured, Mr. Yilmaz expressed disappointment as the dentist allegedly abandoned him at the hospital and has since refused to provide a refund. Determined to seek justice, Mr. Yilmaz has initiated legal proceedings against the dentist.

In response to the incident, the dentist, identified only as A.D. in reports, attributed the mishap to a "medical complication," as investigations into the matter continue.
