Sharon Stone Talks Confronting 'Demons' Amid Mental Health Struggles
Renowned actress Sharon Stone recently got candid about her ongoing struggles with mental health.
In an interview on "Turkish Tea Talk with Alex Salmond," Stone, 66, revealed her personal endeavor to confront inner struggles, stating, "We're all trying to confront our demons, and we're all acting out -- me, too."
Drawing attention to the prevalence of mental health crises globally, Stone, who collaborates with the World Health Organization, highlighted the staggering statistic that one in 10 individuals is experiencing such crises on a global scale.
Expressing her belief in individual empowerment, Stone noted the importance of personal growth and accountability, asserting that change must begin at the individual level rather than relying solely on political figures for solutions.
"To try to say, it has to be our leaders, well, which leader do you think that's going to be? It must start with the individual," Stone explained, Page Six reported.
"You must stand strong, and when you blow it? OK, so what? That was two steps ago."
"You have to get back up, get yourself together and help whoever you think you bumped around, and keep moving forward - and instant forgiveness. Instant forgiveness for yourself."
Stone's emotional journey continued as she recounted her experiences using her Hollywood platform to advocate for marginalized communities, notably receiving the Peace Summit Award in 2013 for her contributions to HIV and AIDS advocacy.
Reflecting on this recognition, Stone revealed her sense of belonging among fellow advocates, stating, "I'm in the right goddamn room," and expressing a deep emotional connection to her humanitarian work.
However, amid her advocacy achievements, Stone also addressed personal challenges within the entertainment industry, disclosing her experience with coercion from a movie producer to engage in sexual activities for career advancement.
