Kendra Wilkinson Ditches Real Estate Career After Almost ‘Dying of Depression’
Kendra Wilkinson wants to focus on her mental health at this point in her life.
On Tuesday, the 38-year-old former Playboy model took to Instagram to announce her decision to leave her real estate career to focus on her kids and her mental well-being.
"My relationship with real estate has come to an end at this moment, and I'm on to new projects. I'm blessed and thankful for all the support and mentoring I was given. Real estate is hard and I might get back into it again down the line," she captioned an image featuring the word "blessed."
"For now, it's a little stressful in my life so I'm focusing on myself and kids and getting my mental health good again so I have the strength to get back in it with a good head."
The TV personality launched her real estate TV show "Kendra Sells Hollywood" in November 2021 following her divorce from her ex-husband, former NFL player Hank Baskett.
At the time, Wilkinson told PopCulture.com that she was looking for a new start for her kids and herself. She has two children with Baskett - daughter Alijah, 9, and son Hank IV, 14.
Ahead of the first season's premiere, Wilkinson disclosed to the outlet that she came up with the concept for the reality series at a time when Hollywood started to ditch her, leaving her with no entertainment career options.
"Hollywood ended a couple years ago, and nobody was calling. I wasn't getting any more deals. It was over for me in Hollywood. My 15 minutes were up, so I had to figure it out," she said.
"Being a mom of two and [having] no one to rely on, I have to provide. I decided on real estate and to fully commit myself to it. So I decided that - I passed the real estate exam on the first try, and the cameras came back to film it all."
"Kendra Sells Hollywood" ran for two seasons from 2021 to 2023. Fans were excited for another installment, but Wilkinson dropped a bombshell early this year when she emotionally opened up to People about her crippling mental health battle following the cancellation of her show.
She was hospitalized last September after suffering a severe panic attack. In her dialogue with People, she admitted that her mental problems largely stemmed from her unresolved trauma from her time in the Playboy mansion and her 2019 divorce from Baskett.
"I was in a state of panic. I didn't know what was going on in my head and my body or why I was crying. I had hit rock bottom. I was dying of depression. I was hitting the end of my life, and I went into psychosis. I felt like I wasn't strong enough to live anymore," she said in the interview.
