Porn Company Sued Over Violating Condom Law in LA County

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation is challenging the Los Angeles County officials in regards to the new condom law, which was put into effect last December. The condom law, Measure B, requires porn stars and production companies to enforce the use of condoms when they are filming within the county. However, according to the foundation, which lobbied for the law, Immoral Productions violated it at a permitted site. After receiving an anonymous tip and a video clip of the violation, the foundation filed a complaint to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

The complaint that was filed was sent to the county Health Director, Jonathan Fielding and stated that the porn company violated not just the condom law, but also several health and safety provisions after receiving the permit the film within the county.  Measure B requires porn companies to purchase these health permits, which would allow the county to inspect the filming sites and shut it down if certain health violations were ignored. Weinstein also hinted to that fact that after viewing the videos to make sure that the violations occurred, it appeared that the company was making fun of the new law by uploading these videos and bragging about the violations.

"The producers have to follow the law, which is also clearly the will of the people, and protect their performers by having their performers use condoms in the production of film," Michael Weinstein, the president of the foundation stated.

Measure B was passed by over 56 percent of the resident of the county, indicating that the majority of the county voters wanted this law enacted. The foundation also stated that this complaint would test the Los Angeles officials by seeing if they actually enforce the new rules and regulations.

"We're putting them to the test. If democracy means something in LA County - if porn producers and county supervisors are not above the law - then they will enforce it," Weinstein added.

Immoral Productions and the Depart of Public Health have not released any information regarding the complaint.
